At Safe Shores – The DC Children’s Advocacy Center, we are committed to providing families with the services they need to provide healing and relief from the trauma of abuse.
What To Expect
Safe Shores is committed to creating a comfortable and child-friendly environment for all who come to our center for a forensic interview, therapy appointment, or another services.
How We Work
Before Safe Shores existed in the District of Columbia, children and families had to travel to multiple locations to access needed services following an allegation of abuse, a costly and emotional process.
As part of the children’s advocacy center model, Safe Shores and our partner agencies are housed at one building, easing access to services for children and families, as well as ensuring that a child will not have to tell their story multiple times.
Recognizing Abuse
Children who have been sexually abused may display a wide variety of emotional, behavioral, or physical symptoms.
