As the holidays approach, we’re reminded of the simple joys of the season — moments of warmth, laughter, and love. But for the child victims Safe Shores serves, these moments can often feel out of reach. Together, we can change that. We invite you to join us in bringing joy, comfort, and light to children and families impacted by abuse and violence in DC this holiday season.
Whether you’ve participated in Safe Shores’ Holiday Giving Drive before or are new to our community, now is the perfect time to join us and make a powerful difference in a child’s life. There are three impactful ways for you to help:
Sponsor a Wishlist!
You can help make the holiday season a little brighter by purchasing items from a child’s wish list. Complete the Holiday Giving Sponsor Sign Up Form by 11/19 to be matched with a child’s wish list and begin shopping! Sponsors are asked to purchase the child’s top three wishes and can expect to spend $150 – $200 total per wish list. Gifts must be dropped off at Safe Shores by December 2nd.
Make a Monetary Gift!
When you give financially, you provide an opportunity for caregivers to meet their families’ unique needs — needs they know best. Every dollar counts as we strive to reach our goal of $20,000 to provide gift cards that enable caregivers to make their holidays a little brighter. Your support, no matter the amount, helps make the season special for families affected by abuse.

Want to volunteer with Safe Shores? Once all the gifts have been dropped off, join us for a festive wrapping party with yummy holiday treats! Help us prepare these special packages and share some holiday cheer with other Safe Shores supporters. Stay tuned for wrapping party details!

What is Safe Shores’ Holiday Giving Drive?
Every year, Safe Shores partners with our community to brighten the holiday season for children and families impacted by abuse in DC. Here’s how the Holiday Giving Drive works:
First, Safe Shores asks the families we serve for their top wants and needs for the holiday season and compile wishlists. Then, community members like YOU sign up to sponsor those wish lists. After you are matched with a child’s wishlist, you’ll shop for the gifts and drop off the unwrapped items at Safe Shores by December 2nd.
You can also make a monetary donation, and Safe Shores’ staff will shop on your behalf!
Do I have to buy everything on the wish list?
Children and families have prioritized their most-needed gifts. We ask that supporters who commit to sponsoring a wish list purchase all the items listed.
How much should I expect to spend on each child?
Holiday Giving sponsors usually spend between $150–$200 per wish list.
Can I sponsor multiple wish lists?
Businesses, community organizations, and individuals are welcome to sponsor multiple wish lists. For more information about this option, please send an email to givetoachild@safeshores.org.
Can I share a sponsorship with someone else?
Joining with family and/or friends to jointly sponsor one or more wish lists is another wonderful way to celebrate the spirit of giving! If you choose this option, please designate one person as the point of contact to manage the process for your group.
When is the last day to support Holiday Giving?
The deadline to sign up to sponsor a wishlist is November 19th, 2025. However, you can make a monetary donation by December 5th, 2025!
Do you do gift pick-ups?
We do not have the capacity to do gift pick-ups at this time. We are happy to work with you on arranging a drop-off time that is convenient for you and can help unload your vehicle!
How do I learn more about Safe Shores?
