Safe Shores To Kick Off Annual Back To School Drive, July 2009
Each year, Safe Shores collects backpacks and school supplies for distribution to the children we serve. Please check back this July for more information on how you can be a part of this successful event this year, and help children prepare for a great school year.
Safe Shores' Holiday Assistance Drive, December 2008
In 2008, Safe Shores helped make the season brighter for almost 160 children by matching its child clients and their siblings with individual and corporate donors from the D.C. community.
Safe Shores believes the Holiday Assistance program it has created is unique and effective as it aims to respond to each child’s specific wishes and to affirm their individuality. Gifts are donated anonymously and delivered to families by social workers. In this way, Safe Shores seeks to respect the preeminent role that parents/caregivers play in their children’s lives and to help promote the dignity of the families by allowing the parents/caregivers themselves to present the gifts to the children on their observed holiday. Additionally, the delivery process protects the forensic integrity of the investigative and prosecutorial processes.
Safe Shores Kicks Off Annual Back To School Drive, July 2008
Each year , Safe Shores collects backpacks and school supplies for distribution to the children it serves. In 2008, over 100 children received Back To School backpacks stuffed with the specific school supplies required for a child's grade. Safe Shores is grateful for the generosity of individual and corporate donors that make the Annual Back To School Drive a success each year.
